Umbra is on a mission to make it possible to display any 3D content in real time on any piece of hardware. Umbra creates an optimized database from your 3D data, whether it is a small game level or a huge architectural model. It automatically processes your data, which means you can give Umbra your geometry as-is without modifying it in any way, or doing any extra work. Umbra’s solutions are the backbone of a wide range of 3D applications that are used by millions of people every day.

Umbra runs on virtually any modern CPU and does not depend on any specific hardware or external software. All computers, mobile devices and gaming consoles are supported. All major engines, such as Unity and Unreal Engine support Umbra. In addition, Umbra has been shipped in a huge number of games and other applications, many of which run completely custom engines.

Inventure joined Umbra in 2015.

@SPAR_editor Since this post from 2016, Helsinki city model is available as a streamable and optimized version (levels-of-detail, tiling) from @umbra3d service. Any 3d capable device with a modest #gpu can stream in over 500 square kilometers of textured mesh model. #hel3d #kaupunkimalli

City of Helsinki streams huge city dataset to mobile AR and VR devices. Reality mesh model automatically optimised by @umbra3d technology so it can be viewed on phones, tablets, headsets and web browsers
