The shareholders of Silex Microsystems AB, a world-leading MEMS-foundry, have sold their holdings to GAE Ltd, a Hong Kong based investment holding company set out to invest primarily in the semiconductor industry.
Silex Microsystems AB is a world-leading Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) foundry that brings advanced process technologies and manufacturing capacity to a wide range of high-tech companies. Silex’s unique expertise in providing cutting-edge MEMS foundry services, innovative process technologies and proven high volume production capabilities have enabled MEMS innovators to rapidly, cost-effectively and reliably commercialize and ramp products to high volume in key application areas. The company is headquartered in Sweden, with offices in the US.
Inventure team invested in Silex Microsystems AB in 2006.
“What a fantastic ride with Silex Microsystems. We had the opportunity to be heavily involved in the global expansion phase of Silex. With top-tier customers in Europe, US, and Asia, Silex built one of the world’s first 8 inch wafer MEMS production lines. During our years with Silex, the Swedish company grew to become one of the world’s largest independent, pure play MEMS foundry with superior in-house expertise across a variety of MEMS processes. We want to congratulate Edvard Kälvesten, the founder and CEO of Silex, of the great success story he and his team built,” says Sami Lampinen, Managing Partner at Inventure.
